Dross skim pan is a tool specifically used to collect and process dross during metal smelting. Scum is the impurities and oxides produced in metal smelting, which must be treated in time to ensure the purity and quality of the metal. Since dross skim pan is in contact with and can withstand high temperature molten aluminum and scum, it is usually made of high temperature resistant materials with high corrosion resistance and strength.

How does a dross skim pan work?
◆ Before using dross skim pan, check if the skim pan is in good condition and check for damage or cracks.
◆ The dross skim pan is placed in the heating furnace or directly heated by the flame to preheat the skim pan to the appropriate temperature to avoid sudden temperature changes when in contact with high temperature dross, resulting in the skim pan cracking or damage.
◆ A forklift can be used to place the preheated dross skim pan next to the smelting furnace or other casting equipment to prepare the scum removal.
◆ Using a long-handled tool (scum scoop), the molten metal surface of the scum can be lifted into the dross skim pan without agitation to prevent metal loss or the possibility of scum re-mixing.
◆ Once collected, the dross skim pan can be moved to another area and then poured into another processing container for the next step of processing.
◆ After the use of the dross skim pan, it is necessary to remove the residual scum and oxide, and check for damage, which can extend the service life of the skim pan. Regular maintenance and replacement ensure the safety and normal use during use.
The rational use of dross skim pan can extend the service life of the equipment without affecting the normal operation and improve the efficiency and safety of the smelting process.
