On June 13, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other seven departments issued the "Implementation Plan for Pollution Reduction and Carbon Reduction Synergy". The "Plan" regards the implementation of structural adjustment and green upgrading as the fundamental way to reduce pollution and carbon emissions. The key areas are specifically proposed: accelerate the development of the recycled non-ferrous metal industry, increase the proportion of recycled aluminum in the aluminum industry, promote high-efficiency and low-carbon technologies, and the output of recycled aluminum will reach 11.5 million tons in 2025. In environmental control, it is pointed out: Promote the utilization of industrial solid waste resources such as smelting slag or replace raw materials for the production of building materials, and promote the recycling of new wastes such as retired power batteries, photovoltaic modules, and wind turbine blades.
According to the requirements of the Plan, the next step will be to carry out multi-dimensional pilot demonstrations of collaborative innovation in pollution reduction and carbon reduction, form typical practices and effective models with their own characteristics in key regions, cities, parks and enterprises, support the exploration of advanced technologies to achieve coordinated emission reduction of various pollutants and greenhouse gases, and create "double near zero" emission benchmarking enterprises. At the same time, strengthen the research and transformation of pollution reduction and carbon reduction synergy technologies, research and formulate greenhouse gas emission standards for key industries, improve the collaborative monitoring capacity of pollution reduction and carbon reduction, and implement financial and taxation policies conducive to the green and low-carbon development of enterprises.
The release of this "Plan" once again clarifies the development goals of recycled non-ferrous metals. It is hoped that renewable non-ferrous metal enterprises will closely follow the guidance of the dual carbon strategy, make good use of policy support, and achieve high-quality development.
